The Measurement Practices Committee is pleased to announce the Non-Functional & Project Requirements with COSMIC: Experts Guide, a re-edit of the ‘Guideline on Non-Functional & Project Requirements’ of 2015.
The Expert Guide defines and discusses the concepts of Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) and Project Requirements and Constraints (PRC). It provides a Glossary of terms for NFR and PRC to serve as practical guidance to users of the COSMIC FSM method on how to deal with NFR and PRC, as well as functional user requirements, when making software project performance measurement comparisons, when developing benchmarks, and when estimating for new projects.
The Practitioner’s Guide (published in May 2020) explains how to allocate system-NFR to software functionality. The method is illustrated by applying it to three types of system-NFRs: Portability, Performance and Security. The resulting software functional requirements are measured (or approximation) in an SOA context.
