Approximate size measurement with the COSMIC method

Factors of influence

Vogelezang, F., Prins, T.

Because the COSMIC method does not have fixed values for functional processes, the
values to make an approximate size estimate have to be calibrated, preferably locally. Based
on fifty projects we made calibrations for a number of different factors that might have an
influence on the values for approximate size estimation. Different influencing factors can
lead to different values for making an early size estimate. In our article we show that the only
factor we can prove to be of influence is a non-functional one: development technology.
